What Is WoW Forever? Not WoW 2, Not Classic Plus

Last checked 3 Nov 2026

Forever is a new version of WoW built on the original 2004 Azeroth, set in the first year of WoW and in a separate continuity from Modern WoW. It is not a sequel and does not replace Retail or Classic.

It keeps a permanent level cap of 60, adds four new zones, nine dungeons, 1,000+ quests, six new race/class combinations and the Skyborne race. Raids open on 9 December; Hardcore comes later.

Blizzard calls it a new branch; media and fans called it 'Classic Plus'. GamesRadar: 'This isn't the WoW 2.0 we all hoped for.' The official name is World of Warcraft: Forever.

Conflict to preserve: Wikipedia says three new zones and two raids; Blizzard and Wowhead say four zones and three raids. Use the official count and footnote Wikipedia.
