Is WoW Forever Worth It? Verdict for New, Classic & Retail Players

Last checked 3 Nov 2026

For Classic veterans: GamesRadar spent 20 hours and found it 'gives old school fans nearly everything they could want' — the Classic difficulty plus QoL, a permanent level 60 and new content. It is not WoW 2.0; graphics are improved but not revolutionary.

For new/Retail players: RTBF calls it a good entry point for exploration-oriented players, but notes the game is slower, mobs take longer and there is no shared tag, so grouping is encouraged. The UI editor is familiar to Retail players.

Reddit r/wownoob: players describe a slower, journey-first game with no flying and mounts at 40. One player estimates 5–6 days /played to 60 (player claim, not measured); dungeon re-run XP is heavily nerfed, so questing is the backbone.

Verdict by audience: Classic fan → strong yes; Retail endgame-only player → probably no; new player who wants a social leveling game → yes; player who only wants high-end raiding → wait for 9 December and live logs.
